Services for Residents

Accommodation

The Residence can accommodate 146 residents. It features 72 single (private) rooms, 37 double (semi-private) rooms, two rooms for short stays, and three palliative care rooms, as well as a secured section - called La Promenade du Jardin - that features 12 private rooms and four semi-private rooms. These are reserved for residents with particular needs, responsive behaviors, or disorientation problems and at risk of leaving.

Furniture

Each room includes basic furniture, however, residents are welcome to add their own personal items and souvenirs. The room can also be decorated according to their own tastes and to allow them to feel more at home. By doing so, the residents will be reacquainted with a warm and safe environment.

Furniture supplied

  • An adjustable bed corresponding to the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 and the regulations of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
  • A bedside table
  • A chest of drawers
  • An armchair

Optional furniture

Residents can also bring a television set, a radio, a table lamp, photos and a few personal ornaments.

Residents can also have access to a telephone in their rooms. They are responsible to make the necessary arrangements with Bell Canada for installation and billing.

Any electrical equipment must meet the Canadian Standards Association (be CSA approved) and must be verified by a Residence staff member before it can be used.

Residents' personal effects

Please note that the Residence is not responsible for any loss of clothing.

Recomanded clothing

It is preferable that clothing be comfortable and easy to maintain. A list of recommended clothing is available by contacting the Administrative and Financial Clerk at [email protected].

Garment labeling

Every garment is labelled upon the arrival of the resident and is returned to their room within 48 hours. However, it is asked that clothing be identified before being brought to the Residence.

Clothes washing

The Residence's laundry service washes clothing every day of the week. Residents are asked to bring enough clothes to meet their personal needs. As the closet space is limited, it is recommended that only seasonal clothing be kept at the Residence.

If desired, independent residents can wash their own clothing in the mini-laundry room. This room is also available to families that wish to wash the clothing of their loved one.

Adapted clothing

In order to accommodate residents with specific physical limitations and needs, an adapted clothing catalogue is available through the Administrative and Financial Clerk at [email protected].

Personal care and beauty products

Personal care and beauty products are provided by the Residence. However, residents can obtain the personal products of their choice at their own expense.

The Residence also provides incontinence products. Nursing staff will verify that the product responds to the resident's needs in order to ensure comfort and dignity.

Nutrition

Food and dietary services

Residents can rely on the services of a dietitian, who regularly evaluates the nutritional requirements of each resident and ensures that they receive an appropriate diet.

Food services schedule

Meal times are 8:00 a.m. for breakfast, 12:00 p.m. for lunch, and 5:00 p.m. for dinner. Snacks are served between meals and dietary supplements are provided to those requiring them.

Independent residents

Meals for independent residents are served in the main cafeteria.

Residents requiring assistance

Residents requiring assistance or surveillance have their meals in the kitchens located on their respective floors.

Recreational services

Recreational activities are planned every day of the week. Individual or group activities are also offered, according to the residents' preferences and abilities.

Therapeutic services

The Residence provides its residents with a team of specialists, including a registered physiotherapist, an occupational therapist, and an assistant physiotherapist. In addition to offering individual assessments, these specialists ensure that residents receive the therapeutic services that respond to their needs.

Evaluations are carried out on a regular basis so that each resident has access to the most secure mobility equipment, best suited to their condition.

Pastoral

The religious and spiritual program ensures the spiritual needs of the residents. Various activities are available throughout the year and are posted on the monthly activities calendar.

Among others, a Roman Catholic chaplain celebrates the Eucharist once a week, and an annual commemorative general confession is also offered. Holy matrimony or a funeral may also be celebrated within the Chapel subject to a certain fee.

Services of hairstyle

Residents may receive, at their expenses and according to the fixed rates, the professional services of a hairdresser. Appointments can be set by calling 613-632-2755. Opening hours are from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

COMPLAINT

Anyone wishing to make a verbal complaint can do so by contacting the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) at the Long-Term Care Action Line at 1-866-434-0144. The person answering the call will take down your information, ask a few questions, assess the problem and forward the information to an inspector for follow-up.
