The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) are joining Interlude House and the Prescott-Russell Coalition to End Violence Towards Women in urging the province of Ontario to declare that gender-based violence and intimate partner violence are an epidemic.
The Prescott and Russell region has strong advocates and professionals who act as spokespersons for the gender-based violence and violence against women crisis. The UCPR are part of this multidisciplinary team combatting this public health issue, which has significant social and psychological impacts on the population victim of gender-based violence.
“Gender-based violence and violence against women are part of the six priorities of our Prescott and Russell Community Safety and Well-being Plan. To ensure the health of all members of our community, we must strive for equality between men and women, and continue prevention efforts. We wish to make every home a safe place for women and girls. This is truly a priority for the Counties,” explains Normand Riopel, Warden of the UCPR.
