The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (the “UCPR”) are inviting their residents to submit nominations for the 2024 Prescott and Russell JP St. Pierre Award. This year marks the 10th edition of this prestigious award. The deadline for nominations is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024.
The Prescott and Russell JP St. Pierre Award is bestowed upon deserving residents of the UCPR who stand out for their exceptional contributions to the community. The award was created in memory of Mr. Jean-Paul St. Pierre, who was serving as Mayor of the Township of Russell, as well as Warden of the UCPR Council, before passing away suddenly in 2014.
A resident of the village of Russell for more than 40 years, Mr. St. Pierre had also held the positions of Municipal Councillor, Trustee for the Police Village of Russell, and Chair of the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus.
“We are lucky to live in a region where many residents contribute to the vitality and quality of life of our communities,” said Normand Riopel, Warden of the UCPR. “They do this out of the goodness of their hearts, with no expectations of anything in return. However, with the JP St. Pierre Award, we have an opportunity to recognize up to two of those individuals annually for their outstanding commitment. I invite residents to nominate people who have set themselves apart through their community actions. I look forward to honouring them during the UCPR Warden’s Banquet in November.”
The Prescott and Russell JP St. Pierre Award aims to celebrate the exceptional contributions of individuals in many areas of life within the UCPR, such as arts and culture, business and professions, charitable work, health, education, public service, media and communications, sports and recreation, agriculture, the environment, or other areas contributing to the well-being of the region’s residents.
Any individual residing in the UCPR who, as part of their professional duties or otherwise, has made a significant contribution to the community is eligible for this award. To submit a nomination or for more information, residents are invited to consult the UCPR’s website, https://www.en.prescott-russell.on.ca/, or send an e-mail to [email protected].
