The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (the “UCPR”) are looking for passionate individuals to join their Accessibility Advisory Committee.
Want to make a real difference in your community? As a Committee member, your voice will impact the lives of residents, break barriers, and pave the way for a more inclusive future in Prescott and Russell.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are inviting people who meet the following criteria to apply:
• Must be 18 years of age or older;
• Must reside in the region of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell;
• Must identify as a person with a disability, as defined under the
Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, S.O. 2005, c. 11; and
• Must be available to attend four (4) meetings per year, totaling ten (10) to twenty (20) hours.
Wondering What Your Contribution Will Look Like?
As a Committee member, you will:
• advise on the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell’s Accessibility Plan;
• provide input on the accessibility of buildings, services, and municipal initiatives;
• support the development of integrated standards, including in matters of employment, communication, information, and transportation;
• guide UCPR Council and departments on policies, programs, and practices that affect persons with disabilities;
• report to Council on the effectiveness of accessibility-related policies and practices;
• monitor municipal policies that impact the lives of persons with disabilities;
• make recommendations to promote equal access to municipal services;
• assist in sharing information about the Committee’s work to persons with disabilities and to the broader community;
• offer opportunities for community members to express their opinions on accessibility issues; and
• help raise public and institutional awareness about the lived experiences of persons with disabilities.

Your letter must include:
• your name and your contact information;
• a short text about yourself and about your interest in accessibility;
• a statement explaining your disability, as defined in the
Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, S.O. 2005, c. 11; and
• a description of any accessibility supports that would make it easier for you to participate as a member of the Committee.
