Construction Work on Paul-Émile-Lévesque Bridge

The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (the “UCPR”) wish to advise the community that construction work is underway on the Paul-Émile-Lévesque Bridge in Casselman.

The Paul-Émile-Lévesque Bridge is located on Principale Street in Casselman and crosses the South Nation River next to the High Falls Conservation Area.

The work on the bridge is a preventive maintenance effort aimed at preserving the integrity of its structure by adding temporary supports until its complete rehabilitation, which will be proposed during the 2026 budget discussions.

For a few weeks, lane closures are planned to allow the work to progress. Motorists are asked to reduce their speed and respect on-site signage. Following this maintenance, both lanes will reopen, but will be narrowed due to the installation of bollards to guide traffic. These preventive measures will remain in place until the bridge is rehabilitated. The UPRC are currently in the design phase of the bridge and are working closely with the contractor to establish a more precise schedule.

“We thank the community for its cooperation during our maintenance projects on the road network. We ask Casselman residents and visitors to exercise caution near the construction site by obeying traffic signs, following speed limits, and paying attention to the temporary installations,” said Mr. Jérémie Bouchard, Public Works Director.

“We recognize the challenges posed by the temporary measures on a bridge like the one in Casselman, particularly for farmers using heavy machinery. While some inconveniences are expected, this work is essential to ensure the safety of motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians in the area,” added Mr. Yves Laviolette, Warden of the UCPR.
