Partner

The Ottawa Mountain Bike Association (OMBA) maintains several kilometres of marked "single-track" trails for mountain bikes in the Larose Forest. OMBA membership is required to use the trails for mountain biking and fat biking.

Authorized Access

A membership is required to ride the trails.

Summer

To maintain the trails, a tire that is at least 1.95 inches or 50 mm wide is required. Kindly respect other users as some trails are shared with other activities. Please note that hiking is not permitted on the bike trails from the Limoges P1 sector.

Winter

To maintain the trails a tire that is at least 3.7 inches or 940 mm wide is required. Snowshoeing is also permitted on fat bike trails. Some trails are also shared with hikers. Kindly respect other users

Trails are closed for the spring thaw. The period is determined according to the condition of the trails to preserve their good condition. Visit the Facebook Page to be on the lookout for trail maintenance.

Membership

A membership is required to ride the trails. Visit the Ottawa Mountain Bike Association (OMBA) to become a member.

Description

P7 Departure (Limoges)

More than 7 kilometres of trails are available for hiking with a 3-kilometre loop groomed during the winter. These trails are also shared with mountain bikes and fat bikes.

P4 Departure (Bourget)

More than 14 kilometres of trails are available for hiking. These trails are shared with mountain bikes and fat bikes.

Maintenance of trails and public facilities is carried out by the staff of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.

Hiking trails are not accessible from P1 nor is hiking allowed from P1.

Partner

The Ottawa Area Trail Riding Equestrian Community (OATREC) is a registered non-profit corporation, which is dedicated to the promotion and maintenance of equestrian trails in the Ottawa region. At the Larose Forest, there are more than 25 kilometres of equestrian trails, which are shared with other user clubs.

From May to November, the cross-country ski trails in the forest as well as other trails become available for horseback riding.

However, the trails remain open to hiking and mountain biking. Some equestrian trails are also shared with motorized vehicles.

Membership

You must have The Ottawa Area Trail Riding Equestrian Community (OATREC) membership to use the trails.

Partner

The Bytown Motorcycle Association (BMA) maintains a territory of more than 10 kilometres including trails reserved for off-road motorcycles in Larose Forest.

Authorized Access

• County Road 8, Parking P6

These trails are for the exclusive use of Bytown Motorcycle Association (BMA) members.

Trail closure from March 15 to May 15 for the spring thaw.

Membership

You must have an off-road motorcycle club membership or have an off-road motorcycle two-day pass to use the trails.

Any traffic outside the established trails is liable to a fine as per a By-law to regulate and govern the presence, use and operation of vehicles, including all terrain vehicles and snowmobiles within the Larose Forest (By-law 2010-50, as amended by By-law 2019-59). Partner

The Eastern Ontario All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Club Inc. is a group of nearly one thousand members. Club volunteers maintain more than 19 kilometres of marked trails on the Larose Forest territory.

Access to these trails is restricted to members of the Ontario Federation of All Terrain Vehicles (OFATV).

Trail closure from March 15 to May 15 for thawing period.

Membership

You must have a membership to the Ontario Federation of All Terrain Vehicles (OFATV) to use the trails.

Any traffic outside the established trails is liable to a fine as per a By-law to regulate and govern the presence, use and operation of vehicles, including all terrain vehicles and snowmobiles within the Larose Forest (By-law 2010-50, as amended by By-law 2019-59). Hunting is permitted on the United Counties of Prescott and Russell forested lands subject to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry regulations. Larose Forest is within hunting zone 65. You can hunt deer, moose, small game and fur-bearing mammals, coyotes / wolves and turkeys.

MOOSE HUNTING Areas

The United Counties of Prescott and Russell lands are divided in zones to which hunters have access each year.

A special permission from the United Counties of Prescott and Russell is required to practise moose hunting in wooded areas under its jurisdiction. The permission is available by completing the following Moose Hunting Special Permission Form: Moose Hunt - Special Permission.

AUTHORIZED ACCESS

You must follow the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry regulations and have a hunting licence as per the regulation of Ontario.

RESTRICTION

It is forbidden to discharge any firearms within the area located on the map of the City of Clarence-Rockland By-law 2012-62.

CODE OF ETHICS

The use of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) outside of marked trails is prohibited and liable to a fine.

It is forbidden to install permanent tree stands, to build fires and to camp.

Description

Nearly 29 kilometres of cross-country ski trails crisscross the various forest stands on relatively flat terrain. There are groomed trails for classic and skate skiing. Trail maintenance and conditions are updated on the trails interactive map. Maintenance and track settings are carried out by the staff of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell according to the needs and the weather.

Cross-country ski trails are specifically for skiers.

Membership

No membership is required.

• It is forbidden to walk on the ski trails
• Domestic animals are not permitted on the trail.
• Snowshoeing is forbidden on the trails.
• Respect the signage and the specific style of the trails (classic or skate).
• Bring back your garbage.

Description

Snowshoe trails are shared with fat bikes. There are more than 37 kilometres available which travels throughout the Larose Forest. Trails and public facilities are maintained by the staff of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.

The snowmobile trails in Larose Forest are part of the 435-kilometre network of marked trails maintained by the Eastern Ontario Snowmobile Club (CMEO).

Authorized Access

Only people on snowmobiles with their membership have exclusive right of passage.

You must obtain an Eastern Ontario Snowmobile Club (EOSC) membership to use the trails.

Partner

Mush Larose is an association of dog sled and skijoring owners. More than 16 kilometres of trails crisscross the Larose Forest. All departures are from P1.

Authorized Access

Members of Mush Larose have exclusive access to these marked and groomed trails, from late fall through spring.

Membership

You must have a Mush Larose membership to use the trails.
