The United Counties of Prescott and Russell (the “UCPR”) want to inform residents of the closure of County Road 5 (St-Albert Road West), between County Road 3 (Notre-Dame Street/Route 500 West) and Route 400, as of May 12, 2025.
A roundabout will be built at the intersection of County Road 3 and County Road 5. At present, this intersection consists of stops in all four directions. The construction work should last until the end of fall 2025, and it will be carried out thanks to the Canada Community-Building Fund, which provides funding to local communities for strategic investments in essential infrastructure.
“This is a very busy intersection, because it links Embrun, Limoges, St-Albert, and Casselman. The new roundabout will therefore allow for smoother traffic flow in the area. We ask residents and visitors to exercise caution near the construction site and on the detour roads,” explained Jérémie Bouchard, Director of Public Works for the UCPR.
“All this construction work on our road network is being done to improve our infrastructure and to make travel safer for our citizens. Our communities are growing, and it is essential to proceed with these types of projects to better serve them now and in the future,” added Yves Laviolette, Warden of the UCPR.
Since the construction work will be completed in several phases, road closures will change over the coming months. Further details on the detours will be available at www.municipal511.ca. The proposed detour for the first phase, which should be in place until the end of August 2025, is as follows:
- Going south on County Road 5 (to go towards St-Albert): first, west on Notre Dame Street; next, south on St-Joseph Road; and then, east on Route 400.
- Going north on County Road 5 (to go towards Limoges): first, west on Route 400; next, north on St-Joseph Road; and then, east on Notre-Dame Street.
