Construction Progresses at the new Residence

It was during a visit to the new Prescott and Russell Residence on October 24, 2023, that the Chief Administrative Officer of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR), Stéphane P. Parisien, the Warden of the UCPR and Mayor of the Township of Champlain, Normand Riopel, the Mayor of the Town of Hawkesbury, Robert Lefebvre, the Mayor of the Township of Russell, Pierre Leroux, the Mayor of the Township of East Hawkesbury, Robert Kirby, and the Mayor of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet, Yves Laviolette, were able to see the progress of the construction work.

To be ready for winter, outdoor work has made great progress in recent months. The finishes demonstrate the look of the new Residence: dark grey brick and faux wood embellishments. Large windows already guarantee beautiful natural light in the interior spaces, both in the residents’ rooms and in the common areas. The central and interior courtyards, which will allow residents to enjoy the outdoors, will be embellished with flowers, shrubs, and trees in the spring. As a result, the cold season will allow the work to continue indoors.

“We are excited that the new Residence will open its doors in 2024. We can’t wait for the residents to move into their new homes,” said Mr. Normand Riopel, Warden of the UCPR. “Seniors in our region will feel at home in these new spaces. The rooms will be comfortable, and the common areas will allow pleasant encounters. Not to mention that our employees will also have new, modern spaces that will enable us to offer high-quality care.”

The move is still scheduled for spring 2024. The new Prescott and Russell Residence will have 224 beds and will be served by more than 200 Health Professionals.

To see the progress of the exterior work, the community can watch a video filmed in September 2023.
