Mandate
The mandate of the Emergency Services targets the protection of
citizens through the management and delivery of services,
including paramedics' services, 9-1-1 and the United Counties of
Prescott and Russell Emergency Measures Plan in consultation with the
police department, municipalities, fire departments and the medical
community. Services are provided in accordance with the laws and
regulations stipulated by the Ambulance Act, Personal Health Information
Protection Act 2004, Emergency Prepardness Act and Emergency Management
Ontario.
Objective
Our objective: reinforce the Prescott and Russell community survival
chain, the latter aiming to reduce mortality and disability related to
heart diseases.
This survival chain is composed of links such as:
- healthy choices (avoid smoking, eating well, exercising, etc.)
- quickly identifying symptoms
- rapid access to emergency care
- immediate CPR
- quick defibrillation
- quick administration of advanced life support
- early rehabilitation
The chain is as strong as its weaker link - if a link is weak or
missing, chances of survival are diminished. All links are essential to
reduce mortality and disability related to heart diseases.
