Update Regarding Access to UCPR Offices and Services

Although access to certain services has begun to resume, the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) wish to advise that access to their offices and services continues to be restricted for health and safety reasons related to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Many UCPR employees continue to work from home until further notice. As a result, clients and visitors are also being asked not to present themselves on the premises without an appointment.

Please note the updates regarding the following services:

UCPR Administrative Building and Council Meetings (L’Orignal)

  • The UCPR Administrative building remains closed for the majority of services.

Social Services

Ontario Works

The Ontario Works offices in L’Orignal and Rockland remain closed, but staff continue to provide services to clients.

Prescott and Russell Residence

The Prescott and Russell Residence wishes to inform the population that the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) has declared the COVID-19 outbreak ended, as of December 21, 2020. The UCPR would like to sincerely thank the employees, the residents, and their families for their support and assistance throughout this situation.

The UCPR continue to work closely with the EOHU, which is diligently following up and tracking contacts to contain any further propagation. The health care system is working, and the safety and comfort of our residents and staff remain our top priority.

Visiting Procedures

Outdoor Visits
  • There is no limit to the number of people who may visit a resident.
  • However, there is a maximum capacity of 75 people who may be present simultaneously outside the Residence.
  • Visitors must wear a mask at all times.
  • Only fully immunized visitors may get closer than two (2) metres of a resident (with proof).
  • You can book your visit by contacting the Residence at extension 246. It is best to book your visit 24 hours in advance.
Indoor Visits
  • There is no limit to the number of people who may be present for an indoor visit.
  • However, there is a maximum capacity of 50 people who may be present simultaneously inside the Residence.
  • Visitors must wear a mask at all times.
  • Please respect the maximum capacity of people allowed in common areas, as indicated on the posters.
  • Only fully immunized visitors may get closer than two (2) metres of a resident (with proof).
  • You can book your visit by contacting the Residence at extension 246. It is best to book your visit 24 hours in advance.

Rapid Testing and Active Screening

Outdoor Visits
  • All visitors must go through active screening before the visit (questions and temperature check).
  • It is not necessary to go through rapid testing.
Indoor Visits
  • Fully immunized visitors
    • All visitors must go through active screening before visiting (questions and temperature check).
  • Partially or unimmunized visitors
    • Must go through active screening before visiting (questions and temperature check).
    • Must go through rapid testing and have a negative result before visiting (tests are conducted at the Residence).
    • On a first visit or if the visitor has not visited the Residence in more than one (1) month, he or she must present proof of a negative result to a COVID-19 PCR test that was conducted seven (7) days or fewer prior to the visit.

Note intended to visitors

We will not escort Caregivers to the resident’s room. If you are not comfortable with your coming and going at the Residence, please let us know when you book the appointment. An employee will assist you at your arrival. It is very important to go directly to the room in question and to not stop to talk with other residents. This is part of the Directive 3 from the Long-Term Care Ministry. An employee will escort you when you leave.

PR Transpo offers free transportation to Prescott and Russell residents who need an alternative way to get to one of the region’s vaccination clinics. Once you have confirmed the date and time of your vaccination appointment, call 1 844-957-0533 to book your trip.

Resources to Guide the Entrepreneurs of the Region

The Prescott and Russell Economic Development and Tourism (PREDT) and the Prescott and Russell Entrepreneurship Centre (PREC) continue to act as resources to guide the entrepreneurs of the region to the various measures available to counter the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hands-on, Free, Agricultural Training Program

Do you have a passion for agriculture?

Eligibility criteria
  • Ontario residents (with proof of residency)
  • Unemployed or part-time employment of less than 20 hours per week
  • Demonstrate interest in the agricultural field
You will learn
  • Milking technics
  • Driving and use of farm machinery (seasonal)
  • Field work (seasonal)
  • Horticultural production in the field or in greenhouses (seasonal)
  • Job search and leadership workshops
Develop your skills with hands-on training on Prescott and Russell farms.
  • Offered in English
  • Group of 6 participants
  • 5 week duration
  • Start date: October 2021

  • Access to the Provincial Offences Office continues to be restricted for health and safety reasons related to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Please call in advance to make an appointment.
