Possible postal strike could disrupt Prescott and Russell Ontario Works cheques

The United Counties of Prescott and Russell are warning residents who receive Ontario Works benefits that their cheques will not be mailed in the event of a Canada Post disruption.

Clients will have to pick up their cheque or statement at the office where they regularly see their Case Manager.

Staff will be available Thursday, September 27th, Friday, September 28th, and Monday, October 1st from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Clients must show a photo ID in order to pick up their cheque or benefit statement.

Notice to landowners to destroy noxious weeds

Notice is hereby given to every landowner within the United Counties of Prescott and Russell that all noxious weeds or weed seeds shall be destroyed by June 30, 2018, pursuant to the Weed Control Act. All enquiries are to be directed to the Weed Inspector Mr. Guy Cayer at 613 987-2196.

Weed spraying of posts and guiderails Wagar & Corput Weed Control Inc., the United Counties of Prescott and Russell and joint Municipalities intend to control weeds along guard rails and posts along the following rural roadsides. List of roads to be sprayed within the United Counties of Prescott and Russell are as follows:

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29 and 31.

Champlain Township Roads:

Blue Corner, Sandy Hill, Ritchance, Greenlane West, Pleasant Corner West, Pleasant Corner East, Pearl and Charbonneau.

Nation Municipality Roads:

Arsenal Powerline Herbicide (PCP #30203), Active ingredient: Imazapyr (present as the isopropylamine salt), Overdrive Herbicide (PCP #30065), Active ingredients: Diflufenzopyr (present as sodium salt) and Dicamba (present as sodium salt), Credit Xtreme Herbicide (PCP #29888) Active ingredient: Glyphosate (present as isopropylamine and potassium salt) under the Pest Control Products Act (Canada)

All work commencing on May 22, 2018 weather permitting and concluding on June 22, 2018.

Contact Wagar & Corput Weed Control Inc. at (613) 938-2117 and/or your Municipality for municipal road and/or Jérémie Bouchard for County Roads at 1-800-667-6307 ext. 3501. Residents also have the possibility to post/erect a “No Spray” sign in front of their property.
