The United Counties of Prescott and Russell’s Accessibility Advisory Committee seeks to improve accessibility throughout the Counties. The committee’s mandate is to produce an annual Accessibility Plan and to advise Council on ways to improve accessibility in the Counties by removing existing barriers over time and by preventing new ones from being created.
Municipalities with 10,000 or more residents are required by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act to have a local Accessibility Advisory Committee. The committee is comprised of community volunteers and representation from Council.
The UCPR is dedicated to continuously improving accessibility within our Counties, and to achieving the goals set by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
Through the UCPR’s Accessibility Plan, Council outlines its accessibility initiatives, which reflects its commitment to the successful implementation of the AODA standards.
