Update Regarding Access to UCPR Offices and Services

Although access to certain services has begun to resume, the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) wish to advise that access to their offices and services continues to be restricted for health and safety reasons related to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Many employees working in the UCPR’s offices continue to work from home, until further notice. As a result, clients and visitors are also being asked not to present themselves on the premises.

Please note the updates regarding the following services:

Administrative Building and UCPR Council Meetings (L’Orignal)

  • The UCPR Administrative building remains closed for the majority of services, except for emergency cases regarding Ontario Works and Housing Services.

Prescott and Russell Residence

The Prescott and Russell Residence is currently in the midst of a Covid-19 outbreak. This is a serious but not unanticipated turn of events. Residence staff are prepared, and have implemented full outbreak protocols. Staff are taking every step to protect residents and staff from the effects of the disease and from further spread of infection, including the deployment of community paramedics.

The UCPR continues to work closely with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU), which is diligently following up and tracking contacts to contain any further propagation. The health care system is working and the safety and comfort of our residents and staff remains our top priority.

Home-Based Daycares

  • The Prescott and Russell Licensed Home Child Care Agency will officially open as of Monday, June 22nd. Parents are asked to contact their Child Care Provider directly for more details.
  • The regular child care centres will open individually over the coming weeks, depending on their respective reopening plan.

The Ontario Works offices in L’Orignal and Rockland remain closed, but staff continue to provide services to clients.

As a result of the Ontario government's announcement related to outings and travel for seniors' residences, please note that the PR Transpo transit service has again been suspended indefinitely effective today, until further notice.

Emergency Services and Ambulance Bases

  • The Emergency Services administrative office in Plantagenet is closed.
  • If you experience symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough and/or difficulty breathing), please call your healthcare provider, Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000, or the Eastern Ontario Health Unit at 613-933-1375.

Provincial Offences Office

  • All Provincial Offences Act matters scheduled from Monday, March 16, 2020, through to and including Friday, January 22, 2021, will be adjourned and rescheduled to a later date. If you have a matter scheduled during this time, you do not need to attend court.
  • A notice of your new court date will be sent to you by mail to the address on file with the court.
  • Most statutory timelines under the Provincial Offences Act have been extended until December 1, 2020.
  • If you received an Offence Notice (ticket) or Parking Infraction Notice (parking ticket) after March 1, 2020, you have until December 1, 2020, to exercise one of the options set out on the back of the Notice. If you do not respond by December 1, 2020, you may be deemed not to dispute the charge and a justice may enter a conviction for the offence.
  • Access to the Provincial Offences Office is limited to urgent cases only. Please call in advance to make an appointment.
